ABOUT BARRINGTONS
GARDEN | BRASSERIE | BREWERY | HOTEL
Barrington’s is home to the first craft brewery situated within Plettenberg Bay, as well as a magnificent kitchen garden, brasserie, bar and small hotel.
The Barrington family coat of arms, emblazoned with the words, “Honesty Before Splendor” perfectly captures the spirit of Barrington’s in Plettenberg Bay. This is a multi-faceted experience destination that is authentic, artisanal and true to its locale. From the craft beer brewed on site, to the organic vegetables and herbs cultivated in the garden, to the freshly baked breads and slowly smoked, free-range meats.
the HOTEL
A Multi-Sensory Stay
Barrington’s Small Hotel, situated directly above the brewery, provides an undeniably unique yet central location a stone’s throw from the beach and Plettenberg Bay’s world class, championship golf course.
A quiet industrial aesthetic, carried through from downstairs, gives way to ten elegantly simple white on white rooms. Luxurious linens, feature lighting and locally produced organic amenities in the en-suite bathrooms, ensure an indulgent stay.
Four of the more spacious rooms have private balconies, some of which appear to perch in the canopy of Barrington’s treasured coral tree.
Quite “the perfect place” for travellers wanting more than a bed for the night.
OUR PASSION
IS FOOD AND WHERE IT COMES FROM
The Barrington ethos is firmly grounded by its absolute commitment to sustainability and the protection of its environment, which includes the ongoing care and rehabilitation of the Klein Piesang Riverbank.
The removal of all alien vegetation from the property and subsequent mass planting of indigenous trees and shrubs has already made a significant impact to the quality of water and birdlife along this section of the river.
Aside from the organic kitchen garden, other notable features include a 120 000 lt underground grey water reservoir to be used for irrigation purposes, gas geysers throughout and the future installation of 180 solar panels. Support for locally farmed, ethically produced meat and produce from within a 30km radius and Barrington’s very own daily harvest will further assist in limiting the operations carbon footprint throughout.
Most exciting is that plans are already underway for Barrington’s to spearhead the development of a community kitchen garden and provide ongoing training and support to one of Plettenberg Bay’s most disadvantaged communities.
